March 9, 2022

We are thrilled to have you part of our 2022 TPAN Ride for Life Chicago community! We have lots of exciting things planned for this year’s event! This email is the first of a weekly series of emails to keep you informed, motivated, and connected. We will provide helpful information, including weekly fundraising tips, TPAN's program highlights, training opportunities, upcoming social and fundraising events, and more.

Fundraising Tip of the week: Set yourself up for success! Have you updated your fundraising page?

Fundraisers who update their page with a personal message and photos raise 6 times more than Clip art, moneythose who don’t.
The “Personal Page” in the Participant Center tab allows you to personalize the content that appears on your fundraising page. There you can change your message, profile photo, and cover photo. This is a great opportunity to tell everyone why you’re fundraising for TPAN! Think about what makes TPAN Ride for Life Chicago special to you and put it into words. Your network is much more likely to donate if you speak to a personal connection. Once you have updated your page and added photos, you’re ready to send your first fundraising email, which we’ll cover next week. If you are a Team Captain, your Participant Center will give you access to editing the team’s page as well. If you need help setting up your page, reach out to one of our event staff. Access your participant center HERE.

TPAN Program Highlight: Syringe Exchange Program
Did you know that TPAN operates one of the busiest syringe exchange programs Syringe Exchange Program(SEP) in Illinois?
Injection drug use and infectious diseases make SEPs essential. SEPs have been shown to reduce the incidence of HIV by a third to a half. TPAN's Health Access Resources Team (HART) program provides free sterile syringes, counseling, and support services through our SEP. We also offer advice on vein health, injection safety, and HIV/hepatitis prevention. SEP clients can also receive Narcan. Narcan, also known as Naloxone, is a medicine that can reverse an opioid overdose quickly. Since 2019, TPAN staff have distributed 80,000 syringes and 500 Narcan kits.

What makes people flock to TPAN’s SEP from across the region? Below is feedback from people who have used this program.
