COVID-19 POLICY
HIV/AIDS and its related challenges doesn’t stop because of the COVID-19 crisis, and neither will we. However, we will implement a variety of new protocols for Ride for Life Chicago in keeping with current guidance on event attendance from the CDC, state, city, and other local agencies to keep our participants, volunteers and staff as safe as possible. These policies apply to all cyclists, crew, staff, volunteers, vendors, vendor crews and others involved in the event.
Here are the protocols we currently have in place.
Be fully vaccinated
All individuals must receive both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or the one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine AND any recommended booster doses.
Provide proof of vaccination
During the event check-in on June 18, cyclists, crew and volunteers will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Participants unable to provide proof of vaccination will not be allowed to participate in the event. For assistance with getting vaccinated, contact our event staff.
Stay home if you’re sick or test positive for COVID-19.
We ask that any participant who tests positive for COVID-19, has not yet received test results, or has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 remain home for the event. Individuals who have reached their fundraising minimum and need to stay home due to COVID-19 will be eligible for a medical roll-over to Ride for Life Chicago 2023.
Strategies to Keep you Safe
We'll take these extra safety precautions to further reduce COVID-19 risk.
1. We will clean high-touch surfaces and shared items in accordance with the CDC guidelines.
2. The opening and closing ceremonies, the dining hall, pit stops, and water stops will have extra space to avoid overcrowding and allow for social distance.
3. We're increasing and reaffirming safety regulations for food service and food handling.
4. We're promoting healthy behaviors that prevent illness, like hand washing and hygiene, staying home when sick, and masking and social distancing.
5. In line with local and state regulations and public health departments, we're training our staff and planning backups.
